Queen of the Meadow, AKA Meadowsweet or Meadwort boasts a rich history. Archaeological evidence suggests its use in Europe as far back as the Bronze Age. Its fragrant white flowers and affinity for damp meadows earned it its regal title. Traditionally, the Queen of the Meadow wasn't just admired for its beauty. Its sweet-smelling blooms were used to flavor mead, a honey wine, and even found their way into beers and other beverages.

Queen of the Meadow holds a prominent place in traditional medicine. Leaves and flowers were brewed into teas and infusions used to treat a variety of ailments. Its anti-inflammatory properties were believed to soothe joint pain and ease the discomfort of arthritis and gout. Additionally, it was used to settle upset stomachs, reduce fevers, and even alleviate symptoms of colds.

Magickly, it's associated with love and divination. Lovers would weave the flowers into garlands, and was sometimes burned during rituals to promote prophetic dreams or visions. Its association with meadows, themselves seen as places of natural beauty and untamed magic, further solidified its place in the realm of the mystical.
