What Is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the ancient art and science of using different fragrances to effect people's moods and whole body health. It is one of the oldest universal (found in all cultures) practices. For example, the Ancient Egyptians and early Greeks discovered that marjoram, cypress, and hyssop were helpful in comforting and giving mental/emotional strength to people who were suffering from grief or sadness. In modern times, aromatherapy has become a popular and regular practice by people in all walks of life; in fact, sometimes people practice this ancient art and don't even know it!

Today, using the oils of plants is often the best way to get the maximum benefit of their pure essence (although using fresh and dry herbs is also a great way to absorb some of the healing properties of plants.) Essential oils can do much more than make a room smell pretty - they can help balance, correct, or elevate the full spectrum of human (and animal) emotions and mental conditions; they also help physical conditions such as headaches (jasmine, lavender, peppermint), indigestion (peppermint, fennel, ginger), and muscle pain (camphor, eucalyptus, juniper), among others; as well as being healing or beneficial for most skin disorders, hair types, and skin types.
