Moon, Fruit Moon, Nut Moon, Barley Moon
As we move out of
summer into fall, The full moon late in the month allows farmers in the grain
belt regions to work later, due to the extra amount of light. Before the
invention of the light bulb and when many farm tasks were still being done by
hand., this "harvest" moon allowed several more days to get as much of the
harvest in before the cooler fall & winter weather made continued work
impossible. Farm & wild animals alike now begin to grow he winter coat to
see them through the cold months ahead, and many are storing nuts and Grains,
hoarding for the dead of winter.

Fall Equinox begins
in the northern hemisphere on September 22nd, 2010 at 8:09 pm PDT. This marks
the beginning of the fall quarter of the year, and the beginnings of fall
harvests. We are having a Mabon celebration on September 19th. Everyone
is welcome. Please see the events above for more information.
This is the second
time of year that day and night are equal, the first time being at Ostara.
However, unlike at Ostara when the days will grow longer than the nights, after
this day the darkness is beginning to gain over the day. Mabon marks the
beginning of Autumn and the death of the land, that is to come, but it is also
a celebration of life, as it is the second, and largest, harvest of the year.
At this time we stop and relax and enjoy the fruits of our personal harvests,
whether they be from toiling in our gardens, working at our jobs, raising our
families, or just coping with everyday life. Foods are harvested, canned and
stored, wood is chopped, animals begin to hibernate in preparation for the
winter, and new clothes are bought and made for the colder times that await.
Balance the outdoor activities with the mental activity of reading and
storytelling. The harvest theme of Mabon cannot be denied. With all of the
blessings we have received it is natural to use this time of year to show our
gratitude.

Horoscopes By Rose
Blackstone
Capricorn
(December 22- January 20) While you attempt to rule your world with
reason and logic, you find that there is something missing that you can't quite
put a name to. That little detail is called "Life". It's the little details
like stopping to smell the roses, taking a moment to enjoy a rainbow (even if
it's only spied while watching the lawn sprinklers) or taking time to tell
someone how much they mean to you that you will miss amid "working" and "paying
the bills" and "being a grown up". Take a moment every day to stop and enjoy
these little things in life, or one day you may find that life is almost over,
with little or no memories of why it was worth living.
Aquarius
(January 21- February 19) You are a strong individual with even
stronger beliefs. Those around you come for advice and comfort, knowing that
you will steer them clear of danger and pain. And while your mind may be made
up on a current situation that plagues you this month, do not let make you
jaded. Do not let this make your heart cold or your mind closed. Even though
you serve as a teacher to those around you, you still have plenty left to
learn. And even the smartest teachers must admit that the best lesson is not
one taught over and over again, but one where the teacher becomes the
student.
Pisces
(February 20- March 20) A time of bounty and prosperity is yours this
month. But while gathering the fruits of your labor, do not forget to put a
little aside for the long, hard winter to come. Make sure you have the bills
paid, the family provided for and a little set aside for emergencies before
planning your personal spending spree. A little treat for yourself is good,
especially seeing how hard you had to work to get it. But taking care of your
needs before your wants is necessary for the "happily ever after" you've been
struggling for.
Aries
(March 21-April 20) A message from afar brings a change to your
current situation. Some fear change while others reach out and embrace it.
Change need not be something to avoid, especially when it comes with the
opportunity to improve yourself and the means to change your life for the
better. So take this news with a grain of salt and take charge of the situation
before it takes over your life. By facing your fears and making them work for
you, you will make an adventure from a little problem.
Taurus
(April 21- May 21) Though you have attempted to treat a current
situation with fairness and flexibility, others around you see it as a means to
discredit you. If you have let you temper get the best of you in the past, now
is a time to put your best foot forward and make a new start. Do not let
emotions or past failures put you in a bind. Keep and open mind and use logic
when making any choices that seem unbearable. By using your head instead of
your heart you will sidestep the traps others have set for you.
Gemini (May
22- June 21) Use care when traveling this month. A journey is more
than just getting to your destination. It is a chance to learn new things,
visit new places and getting along with you traveling companions. So check your
temper as you check your gas gauge. Have patience in hand and a map in your
glove compartment box. And if something goes wrong, keep a cool head and an
open mind. It is better to stop and ask for directions, than to run out of gas
in a savage place and have to work twice as hard to get to your goal.
Cancer
(June 22-July 22) While justice should be blind, sometimes she is also
deaf and dumb. If you find yourself in a situation that you feel unfair, try
and make the best of it. This event will pass quickly and as long as you
respond to it as you would any other aspect of your life, you will be found the
victor of the situation. Just keep your wits about you, your information
logical and your words without prejudice and you will prevail.
Leo (July
23- August 22) Always ready to lend a helping hand, a situation this
month leaves you feeling high and dry. "But where is my help?" you ask. "Where
are those I went out on a limb to help in their time of need?" and "Why aren't
they here to help me?" The first problem you must face is that some that you
call friend may not act as you expect them to. The other is that those whose
really are true friends may not know how to help you. So be honest and ask for
help when needed. Be specific about the help that is needed. Just don't expect
everyone in your life to drop everything and rescue you. Through this situation
you will weed out the "acquaintances" from the "friends" and you will have a
new appreciation of what you can do on your own.
Virgo
(August 21- September 21) Though you may be a knight in shining armor,
charging into the fray with weapons drawn may not the best coarse of action for
the situation at hand. Not every damsel in distress needs your saving and not
every monster needs to be slain. Keeps your mind as sharp as your sword and you
will find the path that will lead to your happily ever after. The best stories
begin with the underdog in search of a life changing quest. This time try
saving yourself.
Libra
(September 22- October 22) This month sends out a signal that maybe
you are ready for a new calling in life. Maybe a book or a movie has inspired
you to try something new. Maybe talking with a stranger has piqued your
interest into "what might have been". No need to drop your current life and
responsibilities to go back to school. Try it out in small doses. Take a few
classes. Volunteer in an area that interests you. Maybe what you need isn't in
a complete change of career, but something to put some spark in an otherwise
dull moment of life.
Scorpio
(October 23- November 21) As a strong person, you find yourself at a
quandary this month. You may have thought that you had your life figured out,
planned nearly from the moment of birth, but a new wrench in the works has the
machinery of your life tumbling in around you. No need to fret, dear mechanic,
all you need to do is put the machine on pause and take a good look at the
blueprint that you've been following thus far. You may find that this challenge
will bring a bigger and better aspect of your life that you may never have
experienced through the monotony of your current road. Build a bigger and
better you. And if you have a few pieces left over, hold onto them, someone
else may need them in time.
Sagittarius
(November 22- December 21) Wisdom and love will serve you as strong
tools this month. But they will not always be separate in dealing with the
pitfalls that life has to offer. Though you may love someone, it is not a
reason to throw wisdom out the window when an unemotional decision is needed.
And living a life through nothing but logic, leaves the heart cold and the home
empty. So learn to walk the fine line between these two elements, and they will
serve you as a forge for a better world and even better outlook on life.
Stone Lore
By Rose Blackstone
Peacock Ore

Peacock Ore, also
known as Bornite and Chalcopyrite (or copper pyrite) looks like, and is easily
confused with pyrite. It is one of the minerals referred to as 'Fool's Gold'
because of its bright golden color, and was nick-named "peacock ore" by early
miners. As it tarnishes to iridescent blues, greens, yellows and purples, it
has a luster that is metallic. It was first described in 1725 for an occurrence
in the Mountains of what is now the Czech Republic and was named in 1845 for
Austrian mineralogist Ignaz von Born.
Often called the
stone of joy, this brightly colored metallic stone is used to create happiness.
It provides us with the message that life is indeed truly joyful and is a good
choice for those who suffer with depression and loneliness. It stimulates one
to seek further heights and initiates the ability to enjoy happiness in the
moment. Peacock Ore assists one in finding objects that are lost. It can be
used to enhance ones abilities of perception and is therefore considered the
"stone of the mystic".
Because of its
copper content, peacock ore is known as a protective stone that aids in
shielding the self during energy healing work. It possesses the unique property
of energizing not only the area on which it is placed, but all affects all of
the surrounding area as well.
Peacock Ore has a
way of transforming negative energy into positive, great for those who have a
negative image of life. It helps one to release which is no longer useful,
insight of blockages in life which stop us from moving on. Children are drawn
to the natural positive energy of this stone. Peacock Ore allows adults to
emotionally revisit a time earlier in life when the world was filled with
promise and potential.
Peacock Ore also
compliments an understanding that there is nothing wrong in any aspect of one's
incarnation. Everything is for purposeful good. It assists in separating the
positive from the negative and allows you to understand the distinct
difference.
Peacock Ore can be
found in: France, Chile, Germany, United States, Australia and Mexico and has a
Mohs scale hardness of 3 - 3.25
Dragon Thoughts
As we move into the
fall season of the year, our shortened days mean a greater risk of hazards. In
the last few days alone, we have seen an increase in accidents, two out in
front of the store yesterday alone! The children are back in school, and
let's face it; they may not be paying attention to their surrounding as they
walk to school or the bus stop. We have to be alert for them. Keep an eye open
and be prepared for the unexpected. I myself have already had a close call when
a kid on a bike went off a sidewalk into my lane. Let's all take our time and
get to where we need to be, safe and in one piece.
